Birds & Bats

Ringtails

Ringtails are the newest addition to the Austin nuisance wildlife family and migrated from west to east through Texas. They are omnivores and their population is increasing since they are too crafty to be taken prey by their natural predators such as coyotes, bobcats and fox. Like the raccoon, ringtails have the equivalent of a ball bearing in their wrist that allows their wrist to rotate 190 degrees without moving their forearm, making them very agile climbers. They can enter a hole about the size of a golf ball.

Squirrels

Even though squirrels are entertaining creatures, they can still cause a lot of property damage when they make nests, have babies, and fill your home with rodents. They most commonly nest in attics during the winter until it’s warm enough for them to live outdoors again.
